Gradual Learning Through Scaffolding

Once a child is admitted to a school, his lifelong journey of learning process begins from here. Obviously this is pretty difficult for the child to adapt to the new conditions of the formal schooling where he or she is supposed to follow a certain schedule. When all of this is difficult for the kids, at the same time this is equally tough for the teacher to provide such convenient circumstances to the kid where he may groom well, adjust himself and continue with learning. Advanced scaffolding is actually meant for bridging the gaps between the communication gaps of teacher and the kid.

When a child is admitted to the school, there is a massive gap between the language of a child who has never been to school ever before and the language of a learned teacher who has been doing this since ages. Now in the school, the child is supposed to learn many new concepts. If he is not at the a certain level of language to grasp the new concepts, this would be pretty difficult for him to absorb any newly presented concepts to him having the language barrier as the biggest hurdle. In pedagogy, there are various methods of presenting new concepts to the kids apart from the means of language, this is called scaffolding. Scaffolding courses are meant to creating different structures that allow the student to easily grasp the concept. These courses enable the child to move efficiently from their current position to the position where you want them to be. And this is all above the language barriers, this implies that even if the child is countering multiple language barriers, still these structures can allow him or her to learn and grasp the new concepts.

Scaffolding is done through real life experiences, concrete items, pictures, any other bodily objects etc. so here the objects are manipulated first, and such structure is created to which the language might be added later. If presented purely on lingual basis, this concept would have been a lot harder for the child to understand. But through scaffolding he is first presented with the structure to first absorb the concept through means other than language. Once the structures are built and presented to the kids in simplest possible terms, later on the teacher may add up the typical academic vocabulary in the learning the process.
